If the answer to your question is not listed below, please email us at sdcodingforall@gmail.com and we'll get back to you as soon as possible!
- Do I need a computer?

- No, any special software will be a free download provided to you once you have enrolled in the class.
- How old must I be to join the coding camp?
- We advertise our camp to be for students between the ages of 12-17, so that our material and teaching style will best suit the students attending our camp, but please feel free to email us if you or your child is of a similar age to the range we listed.
- What level of programming experience is required to participate in the camp?
- None! We assume all camp participants have no prior experience programming.
- How early should I sign up?
- We encourage you to sign up as soon as possible, since our coding camp is free and tends to fill up quickly!
- Is this coding camp really free?
- Yes! As women and underrepresented people in the computer science field, we hope to encourage young students to get involved in science and fields that have largely been male-dominated for a long time. So we’ve made this coding camp free to give students the opportunity to be exposed to programming and other science related fields.
- Where will this coding camp be held?
- Normally this would be held at Westview High School, but due to COVID-19 this will be an online class.
- When will this coding camp be held?
- The class dates are TBD
- Which programming language(s) are the lessons taught in?
- There are many different programming languages to learn but in our camp we focus on teaching the basics of Java. We chose Java mainly because AP Computer Science is currently taught in Java so any of our students who want to learn more about programming can transition easily into the AP class.
- I was put on the waitlist, what is the process for getting off and enrolling in the camp?
- Each year, many people end up dropping the class so if you have a good chance of getting accepted into the camp. There is not an exact timeline, but usually once summer starts people start making plans for that week and drop the class. As soon as a spot opens up, the person at the top of the waitlist will be enrolled and receive a confirmation email that you are now enrolled in the course.
